Bathroom remodels can be costly, especially during this time when demand for home reno and new construction has drastically increased. The big question is: How far can you stretch your dollar?
Keep in mind that if you add more bells & whistles to the space or divert from the original plan for any reason, it will probably result in additional funds needed. For this reason, we encourage clients to set aside an additional 10-15% of their project total to cover these change orders as they occur. Although these funds might not be used, clients are saved from the stress of trying to obtain funding and keep the project on schedule without further delays by planning ahead.
Here’s some tips from a Designer to you:
Make a list of all the items you want to replace and add approximate cost. Identify the highest tickets on your list and shop around.
Measure your vanity space and check if you can fit a prefab cabinet to save cost on a custom one!
Choose your color scheme & locate your favorite materials & don’t forget to order fast as many items are on backorder with very long lead times.
Remember, the less walls, plumbing & drains you need to move around the less expensive labor cost would be.
Assess the condition on your current items, if some of them are in good shape. Keep them!
And lastly…Don’t start the construction part of the project unless you have received every single component! Things go so much smoother when the crew has all items & materials on hand!
