A marble-clad bathroom where a frameless corner glass shower with satin brass fixtures stands beside a freestanding soaking tub and a glass block window in the Blue Heron Bathroom project by Jennifer Kizzee Design

Hitchcock, TX · Bathroom renovation

Blue Heron Bathroom

Everything in this room is tuned to one metal. Satin brass runs through the vanity faucets, the shower valve, the tub filler, the door pulls and the drains, warm rather than polished, and it is the thread that ties four zones together.

The tub wall is pearl penny-round mosaic, and the floor sets a waterjet marble inlay in a swirling plume pattern against large marble tiles, separated by a narrow band of iridescent mother-of-pearl. That border is the most distinctive material in the project and it is easy to miss until you are standing on it.

There is no bold color in this bathroom. The palette is white, cream, warm gold-tan stone and brass, and the room works because of material and light rather than hue.
