Houston Interior Designer
Award-Winning Full-Service Interior Design for Houston Renovations and New Construction
Jennifer Kizzee Design is a full-service residential interior design firm working across Houston and Greater Houston. We founded the studio in 2016, and we have spent the years since on large-scale renovations and new construction interiors for homeowners who want the whole thing handled.
Fifteen Best of Houzz awards. Fifty-two reviews at five stars. A team of nine. If you are planning a renovation you have been putting off, or a custom home that is still a set of plans, this page covers how we work and what to expect.
The short version
What full service actually means
There are firms that hand you a mood board and wish you luck. That is not what this is.
Full service means we carry the project end to end. We measure and draw the space. We select every finish, fixture, tile, cabinet and paint color. We build the bid package your contractor prices from, so the numbers you get back are comparing the same thing. We place and track every furniture order, receive it, inspect it, and hold it until install day. Then we install the whole house at once, so you walk into a finished room instead of watching boxes arrive for four months.
The point is not that we do more. It is that you make design decisions and we handle everything downstream of them.
What we take on
Services
Whole-Home Renovation
The largest projects we do, and the ones we are known for. A house taken room by room, usually with walls moving, always with the kitchen and primary suite rebuilt. We sequence it so you are not living without a kitchen for nine months by accident.
Major Renovation
One floor, one wing, or the two or three rooms that are actually driving you crazy. Same drawings, same bid package, same install. Scoped so the finished work does not look bolted onto the rest of the house.
New Construction & Custom Homes
We come in at the plan stage and work alongside your builder. Window placement, kitchen layout, ceiling detail, lighting plan, and every selection the builder needs before those trades show up. Coming in early is cheaper than fixing it framed.
Kitchen & Bath Design
Our most-published work. Cabinetry drawings, stone selection, plumbing and lighting specification, tile layout drawn to the piece. Cambria is the quartz we specify unless a client asks for something else.
Furnishings & Procurement
Specification, ordering, tracking, receiving, inspection and install. We have a procurement manager on staff because this is where most projects fall apart, and it is the part clients most want to hand off.
Working With Builders
We work with builders regularly, both when a homeowner brings us in and when a builder does. A designer in the room during plan review saves change orders later, and builders who have worked with us tend to call again.
How a project runs
Our process
Nine steps, the same order every time. Knowing what comes next is most of what makes a renovation bearable.
Design Consultation
We come to the house, walk the space, and talk scope, timeline and budget honestly. You leave with a clear read on the project whether or not you hire us.
Contractual Phase
Scope, deliverables and terms in writing before any design work starts. No surprises about what is included.
Schematics
Measurements, space planning and the first layouts. This is where walls move on paper instead of in real life.
Design Refining
Materials, finishes, cabinetry, lighting and furniture come together into one coherent scheme rather than a pile of good individual choices.
Design Presentation
You see the whole design at once. Drawings, samples, elevations, the actual pieces. You approve it before anyone orders anything.
Project Bidding
We build the bid package your contractors price from, so every bid is quoting the same scope and you can compare them honestly.
Procurement
Every order placed, tracked, received and inspected. Damage gets caught in our warehouse, not in your living room.
Implementation & Project Management
Site meetings, trade coordination, and answering the questions that come up mid-build so nobody guesses at a detail.
Install Day
Everything goes in at once. You leave in the morning and come back to a finished house.

Common questions
What does a full-service interior designer actually do?
Full service means we carry the project from the first measurement to the day the last piece is placed. That covers space planning and drawings, every finish and fixture selection, the bid package your contractor prices from, ordering and tracking all the furniture and materials, and managing the install. You are not sourcing tile on a Saturday or chasing a backordered vanity. You approve the design and we run it.
Do you work in Houston if your studio is in League City?
Yes. Most of our work is inside the Houston metro. The studio sits in League City because that is where Jennifer lives, but our projects run from the Museum District and the Heights out through The Woodlands, Pearland, Friendswood, Clear Lake and the Galveston corridor.
How early should I bring in an interior designer on a new construction home?
Before the slab if you can, and no later than framing. The decisions that matter most are structural: where the windows land, how the kitchen is laid out, whether the primary bath has room for the layout you want. Those get locked in early and get expensive to change later. We regularly sit down with builders during plan review.
Do you take on kitchen or bathroom projects on their own?
Yes, and a lot of our best-known work is exactly that. A single kitchen or a primary bath taken down to the studs is a real project with real drawings, real selections and real construction coordination. It gets the same process a whole home gets.
What is the first step in working together?
A paid design consultation. We come to the house, walk the space, and talk through scope, timeline and budget honestly. You leave that meeting with a clear read on what your project involves whether or not you hire us. If it is a fit, we build a proposal from what we learned.
Do you work with our builder or contractor?
We do, and we prefer it. We produce a bid package your builder can price accurately, we sit in on site meetings, and we handle the questions that come up mid-construction so your builder is not guessing at a finish detail. We also work regularly with builders who bring us in on their own projects.
Do you handle furniture and accessories, or only the construction side?
Both. Furnishings and procurement are part of full service. We specify the pieces, place and track the orders, receive and inspect them, and install everything at once so the room is finished the day you see it rather than arriving in boxes over four months.
What kind of projects are the best fit?
Large-scale residential work. Whole-home renovations, major gut projects, and new construction interiors where we are involved from the plans forward. We onboard selectively because full service means real hours on every project, and we would rather give more time to fewer clients.
How long does a Houston renovation take?
Design usually runs two to four months before anything is demolished, depending on scope and how quickly selections get approved. Construction is set by your builder and by permitting. A single kitchen or bath is often three to five months end to end. A whole home is commonly nine to eighteen months. Lead times on custom pieces drive more of that schedule than people expect, which is why we specify early.
Are you actually award-winning, or is that just a phrase?
Fifteen Best of Houzz awards across Design and Service, every year from 2018 through 2026. Jennifer and the firm have been featured by Business of Home, Houzz Magazine, Metropolitan Builder and Tile Club, and the studio was on the cover of Cambria Style in Spring 2025. Every one of those is listed with its year and its source on our Recognition page.
